Make up is often a tricky thing to master for many and we often struggle to get our shades right or our wings equal. And yet when it comes to the experts, a little smudge there and a little line here is enough for them to create a fabulous look.
Here are a few tips to make the process easier for you and the result more complete.
- Say ‘NO’ to oil
While oil based makeup does look smoother and gives off a soft glow, it can cause the eyelash glue in your eyelash extensions to break down. In addition to using oil-free makeup, you need to make sure that your makeup remover and skin regimens are oil-free as well. It is also recommended to skip the mascara but if you’re determined to wear mascara, make sure it is one that is oil-free and formulated to be used on extensions.
- Waterproof makeup is a no-no
Waterproof makeup is longer lasting and who doesn’t want their flawless look to last for an eternity? But then again, it will require a lot more effort to remove it all from your eyes at the end of the day. The key to eyelash extensions is to wear makeup that can gently be removed, which the waterproof products definitely aren’t. Once again, if you still want to wear waterproof mascara, layer a coat of it overtop your regular formula.
- Lash curler and double coats
To make your eyes look bigger and your lashes fuller, use an eyelash curler to give your lashes a lift and use a mascara to separate the lashes and set it. Let the first coat dry for a while and use the second coat on the tip of your eyelashes to make them look longer and thicker.
- Powder Eyeliner
Now we’ve already established that oil is no good for your lashes, and that throws your oil-based liner out of the equation. But worry not, as an awesome alternative, you can use the power liner!
Use eyeshadow for added fullness
While we’ve all heard of the powder trick to make the lashes look fuller and more voluminous, the white powder under black mascara will show through even the darkest formula. Instead, use matte powder eyeshadow in the same shade as your mascara between coats and voila! you’ve built volume without any strange white residue.
